The Weekly Basics – April 12, 2026

US Big Six

Alaska

Alaska adjusted several routes for fall and darkest winter:

  • Los Angeles: Newark (1x to 3x daily in fall, then up to 2x daily in darkest winter)
  • Portland: New York/JFK, Newark (both 2x to 1x daily in darkest winter)
  • Seattle: Newark (6x to 4x daily in fall, then 2-3x daily in darkest winter)
  • San Francisco: New York/JFK (2x to 3x daily in darkest winter)

San Diego upgauges three routes in Oct from E175 to B737-900ER:

  • Sacramento (2x daily), San Francisco (4x daily), San Jose (2x daily)

Two seasonal starts move up:

  • Las Vegas – San Luis Obispo (Oct instead of Nov)
  • Palm Springs – Santa Rosa/Sonoma (Sep instead of Nov)

American

AA made Aug accurate through Labor Day. It also had some international adjustments:

  • Dallas/Fort Worth: Buenos Aires/EZE (start delayed Oct to Nov)
  • Miami: Buenos Aires/EZE (3x daily to 16x weekly in fall)
  • New York/JFK: Buenos Aires/EZE (1x daily to 5x weekly in fall), Tel Aviv (start delayed Jul to Sep)
  • Philadelphia: Doha (suspension extended to Sep)

Delta

Delta adjusted seven:

  • Atlanta: Buenos Aires/EZE (10x weekly to 2x daily in darkest winter), Rio de Janeiro/GIG (downgauge B767-400ER to A330-200 in winter), Santiago (13x weekly to 2x daily in darkest winter)
  • New York/JFK: Denver (3x daily to 18x weekly), Rio de Janeiro/GIG (seasonal start Nov instead of Dec, then increases to 1x daily), St. Maarten (1x daily suspends Aug instead of Sep), St. Thomas (1x daily suspends Aug instead of Sep)

JetBlue

JetBlue exited Boston – Asheville by canceling remaining May flights and cut Newark – Los Angeles from 3x to 2x daily in summer

Southwest

Southwest made no changes this week

United

United added service to its hubs from San Diego:

  • Chicago/ORD (add 1x daily from holidays through darkest winter), Denver (1x daily from Oct), Houston/IAH (add 1x daily in darkest winter), Los Angeles (1x daily from Oct), Newark (1x daily from Oct), San Francisco (2x daily from Oct)

It added these from San Francisco from Nov:

  • Las Vegas (adds 2x daily in winter), Ontario (adds 2x daily), Philadelphia (adds 1x daily), Raleigh/Durham (adds 1x daily), Seattle (adds 2x daily)

Also for United:

  • Newark: Hilton Head (discontinued in Oct, could be a winter suspension only)
  • Los Angeles: Cancún (12x to 11x weekly in late summer)
  • San Francisco: Cancún (11x to 10x weekly in late summer)

US ULCCs

Allegiant

Allegiant made no changes this week

Avelo

Avelo made no changes this week

Breeze

Breeze discontinued Montrose – Orange County this coming winter, moving that weekly frequency to Provo – Orange County

Frontier

Frontier adjusted four routes:

  • Charlotte: Las Vegas (1x daily to 2x weekly in Jun)
  • Las Vegas: Chicago/O’Hare (will not suspend in May, now flies into early Jul)
  • Orlando: Punta Cana (suspension extended to early Jun), San Antonio (returns at 2x weekly in Jun)

Spirit

Spirit extended its schedule from Sep 8 to Nov 18 and exited New Orleans – Cancún

It suspended these for Jun, to return in Aug (unless noted):

  • Atlantic City: Myrtle Beach (2x weekly)
  • Boston: San Juan (1x daily, suspension extended May to mid-Aug)
  • Charlotte: Philadelphia (4x weekly)
  • Detroit: Raleigh/Durham (suspension extended to Aug)
  • Fort Lauderdale: Austin (8x weekly), Los Angeles (3x weekly)
  • Las Vegas: Chicago/ORD (5x weekly, suspends in May), Newark (5x weekly)

Lastly for F9, Atlanta – Las Vegas will now fly through summer

Sun Country

Sun Country made no significant changes this week

Air Canada added these new routes for IATA Winter:

  • Edmonton: Montego Bay (1x weekly in Dec)
  • Halifax: Barbados (1x weekly in Dec)
  • Montréal: Aruba (1x weekly in Dec), Roatán (1x weekly in Dec), Santo Domingo (2x weekly in Dec), Tenerife/South (1x weekly in Nov)
  • Québec City: Pointe-à-Pitre (1x weekly in Dec)
  • Toronto: Mérida (2x weekly in Nov), Roatán (1x weekly in Dec), Tenerife/South (2x weekly in Oct)
  • Vancouver: Liberia (2x weekly in Dec), Mazatlán (2x weekly in Dec), Monterrey (3x weekly in Dec), Puerto Escondido (2x weekly in Dec)
  • Winnipeg: Montego Bay (1x weekly in Dec), Punta Cana (1x weekly in Dec)

Air Transat adjusted two from Montrèal:

  • Ottawa (3x to 2x weekly for IATA summer), St. Maarten (start delayed Sep to Oct)

Porter

Porter made no significant changes this week

WestJet

WestJet exited Toronto – Medellín, cancelling the planned Jun launch of the route

The Mexican Tres

Aeromexico

Aeromexico cut from Mexico City in summer (1x daily unless noted) to reduce closer to last year’s capacity:

  • Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Culiacán, Guadalajara (10x weekly), Hermosillo, León, Mérida, Monterrey (2x daily), Puerto Vallarta (1x weekly), Tampico (5x weekly), Tijuana (2x daily), Torreón (1x weekly), Veracruz (1x weekly)

Mexico City adds in summer:

  • La Paz (2x weekly), Los Cabos (1x weekly), San Luis Potosí (1x weekly), Tapachula (2x weekly)

Guadalajara suspends four routes in Sep, returning in Dec, as it did last year:

  • Chicago/O’Hare (1x daily), Fresno (9x weekly), Sacramento (9x weekly), San Francisco (1x daily)

Also for Aeromexico:

  • Cancún: Miami, Raleigh/Durham (both suspended for summer)
  • San Luis Potisí: Atlanta (discontinued)

Viva

Viva canceled the planned Dec launch of Mexico City/AIFA – Nashville

Volaris

Volaris cut 3.5% capacity in May

Cats and Dogs

1) Advanced Air returned two Mammoth Yosemite routes in Jun: Carlsbad (3x weekly) and Hawthorne (3x weekly)

2) Aerus exited much of its Mexican network, discontinuing 11 routes and cutting one:

Exits:

  • Mérida: Villahermosa
  • Mexico City/AIFA: Ciudad Victoria, Morelia
  • Minatitlán: Ciudad Carmen, Veracruz
  • Monterrey: Brownsville, Laredo, Piedras Negras, Saltillo, Tampico
  • Morelia: Uruapan
  • Veracruz: Tampico, Vollahermosa

It also cut 3x weekly on Monterrey – San Luis Potosí

3) Air India extended Rome stops on many US flights through May

4) Bahamasair added frequency on five:

  • Freeport: Fort Lauderdale (2x to 5x weekly), Orlando (1x to 2x weekly in winter)
  • Marsh Harbour: West Palm Beach (1x to 2x weekly)
  • Nassau: Miami (2x daily to 13x weekly), Orlando (3x weekly to 1x daily)

5) British Airways moved up its A380-to-B787-10 swap on London/Heathrow – Dallas/Fort Worth to Sep instead of late Oct

6) China Airlines adjusted two from Taipei:

  • New York/JFK (4x to 5x weekly in late summer)
  • Phoenix (suspension cancelled, flies through winter)

7) Contour Airlines adjusted four:

  • Chicago/O’Hare: Fort Leonard Wood (discontinued)
  • Denver: Taos (seasonal start moves up Jun vs Jul, then cuts 5x to 3x weekly in summer)
  • Macon: Baltimore (service moves to Washington/Dulles, cut from 12x to 10x weekly), Fort Lauderdale (new 4x weekly service from Jun)

8) Corendon Dutch added three new routes from Curaçao for the World Cup:

  • Houston/IAH, Kansas City, and Philadelphia

9) Etihad adjusted three from Abu Dhabi:

  • Atlanta (downgauge A350-1000 to B787-9 in spring), Boston (reduced 2x weekly into early Jun), Charlotte (downgauge A350-1000 to B787-9 in spring)

10) Magnicharters trimmed two for IATA summer from Havana:

  • Cancún (3x to 2x weekly), Mérida (2x to 1x weekly)

11) Propair discontinued 1x weekly Gatineau – Montréal/Trudeau service

12) Qatar moved up the restart of Doha – Houston/IAH to May instead of Jun

13) Samoa Airways cut Fagaliʻi – Pago Pago from 29x to 19x weekly

14) Sky Airline moved up the start of Lima – Miami to May from Jun, then increased the route to 13x weekly

15) Virgin Atlantic cut up to 1x daily on London/Heathrow – New York/JFK in summer

Volaris Goes With a Broader Cut

Unlike Viva which focused on cutting in markets where it did not have a leadership position, Volaris took a broader cut, including in markets where it is strong

Breeze Blinks on Transcon

Breeze also made cuts for May this week, but they were more targeted than what we saw out of Frontier with transcon taking a hit
